These are my favorite Christmas sweet treat! I have been making them for many years. They are rich, but perfect, with a glass of milk.

Ingredients For magic cookie bars by sharon

  • vegetable cooking spray
  • 1 1/2 c
    graham cracker crumbs, or corn flake crumbs with 3 tbs. sugar
  • 1/2 c
    butter or margarine
  • 1 can
    (14 oz) eagle brand sweetened condensed milk or same brand fat-free (not evaporated milk)
  • 1 c
    chopped walnuts
  • 1 pkg
    (6 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 can
    (3 1/2 oz) flaked coconut (1 1/3 cups)

    Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F glass baking dish). Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking pan, with vegetable spray.

    Put butter in baking pan. Melt butter in the oven. Remove from oven, and sprinkle graham cracker crumbs, or corn flake crumbs with sugar, over the melted butter. Spread it out, if necessary. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over crumbs.

    Scatter chocolate chips over sweetened condensed milk. Sprinkle with coconut, & chopped walnuts. Press down firmly, with your hand, over ingredients.

    Bake 25-30 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool thoroughly, before cutting. Store loosely covered, at room temperature.
