Ingredients For coconut-toffee bars

1/2 cpacked brown sugar

1/4 cbutter, softened

1/4 cshortening

1 call purpose flour

coconut-almond topping (below)
- FOR COCONUT ALMOND TOPPING

2eggs

1 cpacked brown sugar

2 Tbspall purpose flour

1 tspbaking powder
-
1 tspvanilla

1/2 tspsalt

1 cshredded coconut

1 cchopped almonds
How To Make coconut-toffee bars

1Heat oven to 350. Mix brown sugar, butter, and shortening. Stir in flour. Press in ungreased baking pan, 13x9x2 inches. Bake 10 minutes.

2Spread Coconut Almond Topping over baked layer. Bake until golden brown, about 25 minutes. Cool slightly; cut into bars, about 3x1 inch.

3For Topping: Beat eggs; stir in remaining ingredients.
