Ingredients For coconut-toffee bars

  • 1/2 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 c
    butter, softened
  • 1/4 c
    shortening
  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • coconut-almond topping (below)
  • FOR COCONUT ALMOND TOPPING
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    shredded coconut
  • 1 c
    chopped almonds

How To Make coconut-toffee bars

  • 1
    Heat oven to 350. Mix brown sugar, butter, and shortening. Stir in flour. Press in ungreased baking pan, 13x9x2 inches. Bake 10 minutes.

    Spread Coconut Almond Topping over baked layer. Bake until golden brown, about 25 minutes. Cool slightly; cut into bars, about 3x1 inch.

    For Topping: Beat eggs; stir in remaining ingredients.
