Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter and sugar. When soft and creamy, add egg and maple extract. Combine flour and salt in a bowl and stir. Add flour mixture to sugar mixture. Add pecans and mini chocolate chips. Roll into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Cool slightly and roll additional powdered sugar twice. Makes 3 dozen.
