Found a package of apples that I had frozen last fall that need to be used up so I found this recipe. This was easy to make as I already had the apples done. This bar is very tasty and just barely sweet so I added some caramel sauce on mine, that made it just perfect. This wonderful recipe from FB. I have made my own adjustments. See recipe for more instructions if needed. http://www.purewow.com/entry_detail/recipe/7665/Apple-crisp-bars-you-can-make-in-one-bowl.htm

How To Make apple crisp bars

  • 1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place a rack in middle of oven. Line a 9 X 13 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  • Crumb mixture
    2
In large bowl, add the oats, flour, brown sugar cinnamon, salt and baking soda. Mix until well combined. Add the melted butter to the dry mix and stir until well incorporated into the dry ingredients.
  • 3
Firmly press about half the mixture into the bottom of the baking dish to cover.
  • 4
Add the sliced apples to another bowl and add the sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon, mix well and spread the apple mixture over the bottom layer. Add extra sugar and cinnamon taste if needed
  • 5
Sprinkle the rest of the crumb mixture over the apples as even as possible. Cover the pan tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes to help cook the apples.
  • 6
Remove foil and bake for another 20 minutes or until the topping is golden and the apples are completely tender. Adjust time as needed. Remove from oven and cool on wire rack. When cool, cut into squares and serve. I added caramel syrup topping to my piece and it added just enough sweetness.
