I received this recipe from Grandma Pletcher. When Grandpa had his first heart attack this was our dessert of choice because it did not require eggs. Unless we are having company, we eat this unfrosted.

Ingredients For wacky cake

  • 3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1/3 c
    cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 2 tsp
    soda
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 2 Tbsp
    vinegar
  • 3/4 c
    cooking oil
  • 2 c
    warm water

How To Make wacky cake

    Sift all dry ingredients into an ungreased 9 X 13 cake pan
  • 2
    Make 3 wells
  • 3
    Mix together vanilla, oil, and vinegar. Pour equal amount into each well.

    Pour two cups warm water over all ingredients.

    Mix well with a fork. Do not over mix.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 30 - 35 minutes.

    After cooling add your favorite frosting or leave plain.
