  • 1 c
    water at room temperature
  • 1/4 c
    cocoa
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1/8 tsp
    salt
  • 2 lg
    eggs at room temperature
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 c
    sour cream at room temperature
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • FOR THE FROSTING
  • 1/2 c
    butter at room temperature
  • 1/4 c
    cocoa
  • 1/4 c
    plus 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 box
    confectioners' sugar, sifted (1 pound)
  • 1/2 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c
    chopped pecans, toasted

How To Make texas sheet cake with frosting

    FOR THE CAKE: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine butter, water, and cocoa in saucepan over medium heat; heat until butter melts.

    Add sugar, flour, salt, eggs, soda, sour cream, and vanilla; mix well

    Pour into a 15x10x1-inch jelly roll pan. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Frost while still hot.

    FOR THE FROSTING: Combine butter, cocoa, and milk in a saucepan; bring to a boil.

    Add the confectioners' sugar and vanilla mix well with electric mixer.

    Stir in pecans, and pour over the cake. Spread to cover the hot cake.
