Ingredients For red velvet cake

  • RED VELVET CAKE
  • 2 c
    white sugar
  • 2 stick
    unsalted butter, softened
  • 3
    eggs
  • 2 oz
    red food coloring
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 1/2 c
    cocoa powder
  • 2 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    buttermilk
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp
    white vinegar
  • FILLING
  • 16 oz
    cream cheese, softened
  • 2 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 stick
    unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 Tbsp
    white chocolate liqueur
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbsp
    heavy cream
  • FROSTING
  • 3 stick
    unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 1/2 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • 3 Tbsp
    heavy cream
  • 4 1/2 Tbsp
    white chocolate liqueur
  • 2 tsp
    pure vanilla extract

How To Make red velvet cake

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease and flour three 8 inch cake pans

    CAKE BATTER: Cream sugar and butter together then add eggs one at a time and mix well after each
  • 3
    In a small bowl mix water, cocoa, and food coloring together then add to batter and mix well
  • 4
    Gently stir flour, salt, and baking powder together in a separate bowl, then add flour mixture to batter alternating with buttermilk, then stir in vanilla

    In a small bowl, whisk together baking soda and vinegar and add to cake batter
  • 6
    Pour batter evenly into three pans and bake at for 20 to 25 minutes then remove from heat and cool completely

    FILLING: Cream together butter and cream cheese, gradually add sugar, stir in vanilla, liqueur and heavy cream then beat till fluffy

    FROSTING: Cream butter and vanilla together, add confectioners sugar alternating with liqueur and heavy cream and beat to desired consistency
