  • 1 3/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 3/4 c
    unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 2/3 c
    butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 c
    sour cream
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • vanilla buttercream frosting (below)
  • 1/2 pt
    blueberries
  • 2 pt
    strawberries

How To Make fourth of july flag cake

    Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in large mixer bowl; blend in butter, sour cream, eggs, and vanilla on low speed. Beat 3 minutes on medium speed.

    Pour into greased and floured 13x9 inch pan. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan. Cool completely. Place cake on oblong serving tray or aluminum foil covered cardboard.

    Prepare Vanilla Buttercream Frosting: Combine 3 cups powdered sugar and 1/3 cup softened butter in small mixer bowl. Add 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla and 2-3 tablespoons milk; beat to spreading consistency. Frost cake. Arrange blueberries in upper left corner of cake, creating a 4x5 inch rectangle. Arrange strawberries in roes for red stripes.
