These cupcakes are easy to make. The cream cheese center is always a surprise and easy to make changes to. In fact I made lots of changes to the recipe and it turned out great.

Ingredients

1 box
chocolate cake
8 oz
cream cheese
1
egg
1/3 c
sugar
1 tsp
vanilla

FROSTING

2 Tbsp
flour
3/4 c
milk
1/2 c
butter
1/4 c
shortening
3/4 c
sugar
1 tsp
vanilla

Step-By-Step

1Mix box cake according to directions. (For this recipe I substituted orange juice for the water called for in the directions).

2Combine the cream cheese, egg, sugar and vanilla.

3Place paper baking cups in the muffin tins. Put a small amount of batter in each cup (around 1 tablespoon), then put a good tablespoon of the cream cheese batter next. Finally fill approximately 2/3 full with chocolate batter.

4Bake @ 350 degrees for approximately 15-20 minutes

5While cupcakes are baking, make frosting.

6Combine flour and milk. Cook until thick and cool completely. (For this recipe I substituted fresh orange juice for the milk).

7When the above mixture is cool, add the butter, shortening, sugar and vanilla and mix until smooth. This step takes a while, so be patient. (For this recipe I addded 1 teaspoon of Grand Mariner for the vanilla and grated orange peel from one orange).

8Enjoy.
