2 1/3 call purpose flour

1 tspbaking soda

1/2 cshortening

1/2 cwater

3/4 cbuttermilk

1/2 cchocolate syrup

1 tspvanilla

2eggs

1/2 cchocolate syrup

1 Tbspchocolate syrup

How To Make chocolate sundae cake

1Heat oven to 350. Grease and flour rectangular pan, 13x9x2 inches, 12 cup bundt pan, 2 round pans, 9x1 1/2 inches, or 3 round pans, 8x1 1/2 inches. Beat all ingredients except 1/2 chocolate syrup, the Chocolate Sundae Filling, and 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup in large mixer bowl on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, 30 seconds.

2Beat on medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 3 minutes. Reserve 1/2 cup of the batter; pour remaining batter into pan(s). Mix the remaining 1/2 cup chocolate syrup into reserved batter. Marble half the mixture into batter in each pan.

3Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, rectangular 40 minutes, bundt cake 50-55 minutes, 9 inch layers 35 minutes, 8 inch layers 25 minutes.

4Cool layers or bundt cake 10 minutes; remove from pan(s). Cool completely. Frost rectangular or fill and frost layers with Chocolate Sundae Filling and drizzle 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup over top. Or top slices of bundt cake with Chocolate Sundae Filling. Refrigerate any remaining cake. *If using self-rising flour, omit baking soda, salt, and baking powder.

5For Chocolate Sundae Filling: Beat 1 cup chilled whipping cream and 1/4 cup chocolate syrup in chilled bowl until stiff.
