WHOLESOME PEANUT BUTTER-CORN FLAKE BARS

This makes a great healthy breakfast snack or on the run.
I have made these many times...they are delicious, wholesome recipe.
Everybody likes them.
Best part is you do not have to heat up your oven!

Ingredients

2/3 c
light corn syrup or honey
1/3 c
sugar
1/4 c
creamy peanut butter
6 c
total corn flakes cereal
1/2 c
salted peanuts if desired.

Directions Step-By-Step

Butter a square pan, 9x9x2inches.
Heat corn syrup and sugar just to a boiling point in a 3 qt. pan over medium heat, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat, gently stir in cereal, and peanut butter until smooth
and evenly coated.

Press firmly into the 9x9 pan.
Let set for about 1 hour or till set.
Cut into 4 rows by 3 rows.
Store loosely covered at room temperature.
Or hide them....they seem to vanish !!!....LOL

Love this recipe. Thank you for sharing. I have made it many times and each time it comes out perfect. I add a couple of dashes of salt.

Is there a reason for using Total Corn Flakes instead of Kellogg's or an "off" brand of corn flakes? 6/11/12

I just made these today. They are really good! My teenage daughter is working two jobs this summer to save up for a car. This gives her something healthy and great tasting to snack on between jobs. Much better than swinging thru McD's for a snack. Thanks for posting this!
