Brandi's Story

I got this recipe from the teacher I student taught with. These cookies are so amazingly soft. They aren't too sweet, which I prefer. Great holiday staple.

Ingredients

1 c
butter
2 c
sugar
2
eggs
2 tsp
vanilla
1 c
sour cream
2 tsp
baking soda
3/4 tsp
salt
5 1/2 c
flour

Directions Step-By-Step

1
Cream butter and sugar in mixer. Beat in eggs, vanilla, sour cream, soda, salt. Scrape sides and make sure well blended. Add flour a cup at a time, mixing well. Chill 20 minutes.
2
Roll out and cut into shapes. Only roll out dough 3 times, more than that and the dough becomes tough. Bake at 350 for 8-12 minutes until very light brown. Cool completely.

Oh sorry Melissa, I use regular flour.
Cynthia, I am not sure but these cookies turn out great. I just have to remind myself to roll the dough out thin enough so they cook through. They stay soft for days and the dough can be done in advance and then kept in the fridge.

I can never get my sugar cookies to come out soft....I didn't want to under cook them cause they looked as if they are not done, then I noticed that after sitting and cooling they get harder, I wonder if putting the sour cream in it will make a difference.....(I'm not much of a baker)...but I'm trying....lol....

Brandi, do you use self-rising or all purpose flour?
