COOKIE:
2/3 c butter, softened

1 Tbsp lemon juice
2 c all purpose flour
1/3 c strawberry drink mix( powder)
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
GLAZE:
1 c semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tsp crisco solid shortening
FROSTING:
1/3 c butter, softened

1 pinch salt
3 c powdered sugar
3 to 5 Tbsp milk

This recipe and photo are from TOH - you can start your Valentine's Day tradition with these pretty, cookies; and you know strawberry is a perfect complement to the chocolate glaze. You can even write a secret message for your "sweetie".
 
 

Directions

Cookie:
In a small bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and lemon juice. Combine flour, drink mix. baking powder, and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well.

On a lightly powdered sugar surface, roll out dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut with a 2 1/2 to 3 inch heart cookie cutter. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake in 350^ oven for 8-10 minutes or until set and edges just begin to brown. Cool 2 minutes before removing from tray to cooling rack.

Glaze:
In a microwave, melt chocolate chips and shortening in microwave safe dish at 30 second intervals; stir until smooth. Spread over cookies; let stand until set.

Frosting:
In a small bowl. beat butter, drink mix and salt until blended. Gradually beat in powdered sugar. Add enough milk to desired thickness. Decorate cookies with you special messages.

Thank you ladies I have decorated cakes in the past- I did not decorate these cookies, they were decorated by TOH kitchens.

They seem like they'd be easy to do if you're handy with a pastry bag. I took Wilton classes, does that count? lol :-D I just love the color and the flavor idea...I think it's great and can't wait to give them a try! Thanks again for the recipe, Pat!
