Cream together the butter, shortening and sugar. Stir in the eggs and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt, stir into the creamed mixture until dough comes together. Roll dough into small or large balls - depending on how large you'd like your cookies and press them with a glass dipped in sugar or with a buttered palm if you plan to decorate them later. I use a small ice cream scoop to get consistent sizes.
These do not spread much at all so do keep that in mind. Place them on an unprepared cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
