I call these "colors and sounds" because when there is a plate of these on the table all you see is bright colorful treats and all you hear is "mmmmmm!" While these are in no way healthy or diet food, I don't think cookies were ever meant to be!

Ingredients For sights and sounds cookie bars

  • 6 c
    cornflakes cereal
  • 1/2 c
    melted butter (or margarine)
  • 3 Tbsp
    granulated white sugar
  • 1 1/2 c
m&m's or other candy coated chocolate candies
  • 1 c
chopped pecans, walnuts or cashews (we love cashews)
  • 1 1/2 c
    flaked coconut
  • 1 15 oz can
    sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 c
    miniature chocolate chips (optional)

How To Make sights and sounds cookie bars

  • 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2
In a large bowl, combine cornflakes, butter and sugar. Mix so the cereal gets thoroughly coated. Pour into a 9x13x2 baking pan and firmly press on the bottom of the pan. I find it easiest to lightly grease my hands and press in.
  • 3
Sprinkle with M&M's, coconut flakes and nuts.
  • 4
Evenly drizzle/pour the condensed milk over the top. Bake about 25 minutes, until it is light brown around the edges. As soon as it comes out sprinkle with mini chocolate chips (if you really need that extra sugar, lol). Cool completely and cut into squares.
