Ingredients

1 c shortening or butter
1 c white sugar
1 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1 c peanut butter
2 eggs
2 c all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda
1 c rolled oats

Black's Notes:

A lady I worked with back in the early 80's made and brought these into work. They are the first peanut butter cookies I really liked. Hope you enjoy them too.

 

Directions

Cream together sugars, shortening and peanut butter.
Add the eggs

Mix flour, salt, baking soda and oats. Add to creamed mixture.

Form balls with about 1/2 tablespoonful dough. Roll in white sugar. Place on baking sheet and flatten each with a fork in a crisscross pattern.

Bake at 350 approximately 12 minutes.

Just made your recipe... Needed something sweet to follow my chicken casserole. I was too anxious to wait for them to cool on the pan and the 1st one crumbled, but the rest are firm and tasty:-) thinking next time about adding CHOCLATE chips. Good recipe, thanks for sharing.

Never heard of putting bacon bits in peanut butter cookies.... These are good, I took a bag of them on the road with us yesterday (127 sale:)-)... They were gone in 15 minutes. I should have taken the whole batch.
