  • 2 1/5 lb
    all purpose flour
  • 1 lb
    fine semolina
  • 1 c
    powdered milk
  • 3
    eggs
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    vegetable oil
  • 2 c
    liquid milk
  • 2 Tbsp
    baking powder
  • 1 Tbsp
    active dried yeast
  • 1 stick
    butter
  • 3 tsp
    sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp
    anise, ground
  • 1/2 tsp
    black nigella seeds
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp
    cloves, ground
  • *you can cut the quantities in half for smaller batch of cookies

How To Make palm sunday cookies - lebanese tradition

    -In a large bowl, mix flour and semolina. -Add powdered milk, yeast, baking powder, sesame and nigella seeds, spices (all dried ingredients) and mix well.

    -In the food processor, or in another large bowl, mix eggs, liquid milk, oil and sugar until well blended and dissolved.

    -Add the wet ingredients to the dry ones, mix well until the flour absorbs all the liquid. -Melt butter and add it to the dough, kneed it until you get a good dough consistency. -Cover and leave to rest for 6 hours.

    -Shape the dough into small balls or rings, brush with milk and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. -Bake in a 395F preheated oven for about 15 minutes or until slightly golden.
