Deanna's StoryI came up with this recipe when I looked through my baking drawer and saw small amounts of different cookie "add-ins". They travel well and were a big hit when I sent them to a soldier friend in Afghanistan.
margarine or butter, softened
brown sugar, firmly packed
quick cooking oats
semi-sweet chocolate chips
1Beat margarine, sugars, eggs and vanilla for 5 minutes.
2Combine dry ingredients, add slowly to creamed mixture. Stir in fruits, chips and nuts.
3Drop by teaspoons onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-14 minutes. Cool on racks. Makes 4 1/2 dozen.
4NOTES: You can use any favorite combination of chips, dried fruit, nuts and/or coconut in these cookies, as long as the total amount adds up to 2 1/2 cups.
