milk fat free, 1%, 2%, or whole
4 Tbsp
cocoa, unsweetened
1 c
peanut butter, creamy or crunchy
2 c
quick cooking oats

Directions Step-By-Step

1
In a large iron skillet, melt margarine on medium heat. Add sugar, milk, and cocoa. Stir constantly until mixture begins to boil. Boil for exactly 1 1/2 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat and add peanut butter. Stir in completely and then stir in the oatmeal one cup at a time. When thoroughly mixed, drop by teaspoonful onto waxed paper or clean dry surface. Maybe the iron skillet makes a difference due to even heat distribution?

I dont know actually. I do know that I have made the same recipe without using an iron skillet and it doesn't always set up. I just believe grandma was on to something!

why does it have to be an iron skillet?
