This is one of my all time FAVORITE cookies and my grandmother always made them just for me! These are thick, chewy with crackled sugary tops! Nice rich flavor!

Ingredients For molasses crinkles

  • MIX THOROUGHLY:
  • 3/4 c
    soft shortening
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, packed
  • 1 lg
    egg
  • 1/4 c
    molasses
  • SIFT TOGETHER AND STIR IN:
  • 2 1/4 c
    sifted gold medal flour
  • 2 tsp
    soda
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    cloves, ground
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon, ground
  • 1 tsp
    ginger, ground

How To Make molasses crinkles

  • 1
    Chill dough. Roll into balls the size of large walnuts Dip tops in sugar. Place sugared side up, 3 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle each cookie with 2 or 3 drops of water to produce a crackled surface

    Bake just until set but not hard. 375 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes.
