I am glad you enjoyed the cookie and that the recipe was easy enough for a beginning baker to use. Thank you for your feed back.

This is the best recipe I have ever tried. this is so easy and it tastes so good. This one is a keeper. I don't know how to cook and this is perfect. I did cook it only for the 7 min cause it might become a hard cookie but may be it was cause I rolled it to thin. still a keeper. love it.

Shortbread vs Butter cookies:
Shortbread is butter, flour, and sugar. They are dense--lots of butter, and no leavener.
Butter cookies are, I presume, a cookie that uses butter as its fat. But sugar cookies are normally a plain flavored cookie, but with a leavener.

Lots of places I went to on the net, called Butter Cookies and Sugar Cookies as the same cookie. Such as, Butter Sugar Cookies, Vanilla-Butter Sugar Cookies.

Butter Cookies II on allrecipe.com has the same ingredients as posted here by Joan, one diference in the directions is that it says to cover dough and chill for an hour in refrig before rolling.

"This is a simple butter cookie that can be used in a cookie press, as a drop cookie or made into a roll and sliced. There is no mystery cookie for a cookie press...any stiff butter type can be used. Just be sure to chill it thoroughly so it keeps its shape while baking."

My conclusion...seems no one really knows. =;D
