Was looking for a dessert recipe for the holidays, lower in sugar. These fit the bill. They're easy to make and they taste scrumptious.

Got the recipe from:

pinch tips: How to Cut Avocado (Like a Pro)

4 Tbsp
butter, melted
1 c
graham cracker crumbs
1 c
walnuts or pecans, chopped (i use pecans)
6 oz
semi-sweet chocolate chips (1 cup)
1 c
coconut, shredded
14 oz
fat-free sweetened condensed milk (1 can)

Directions Step-By-Step

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 13 x 9 x 2 baking pan with foil, extending foil over pan's edges. Put butter in the pan and place in oven for about 5 minutes, or until butter melts. Tilt pan to coat evenly. Sprinkle with crushed graham crackers; layer with nuts, chocolate chips and coconut. Drizzle with fat-free sweetened condensed milk.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned. Cool in pan, on a wire rack, for 15 minutes. Use foil to lift from pan and then cut into bars (I used my pizza rolling cutter for this). Let cool completely.
Serving size - 1 bar

I remember this recipe from way way back! Mom mom clipped it out of a magazine and made it a couple times a year- delicious! I wonder if I can adapt it to be GFCF...hmmmm

These are wonderful, but I don't get the "lower in sugar" comment. The fat-free sweetened condensed milk is almost pure sugar, and the graham crackers and chocolate chips also have sugar in them. What am I missing?

Hi Peggy, It should have been "lower in fat", not sugar. Sorry. From Fitness Magazine:
