Ingredients

2/3 c
shortening, butter flavor
3/4 c
sugar
1 large
egg beaten
1/2 tsp
vanilla
1/2 tsp
nutmeg
1 tsp
orange peel
2 c
flour
1 1/2 tsp
baking powder
1/4 tsp
salt
4 tsp
milk

Directions Step-By-Step

1
Preheat oven to 375*F Makes 2 Dozen - Set a side a small bowl of sugar and nutmeg mixture or roll chill for an hour and roll out for cutting.
If not rolling out you will need a small glass jar and shortening to smear lightly on the bottom, so you can dip into sugar nutmeg mixture and press down on the cookies.
2
In mixing bowl, cream together shortening and sugar, add beaten egg and cream, add vanilla, nutmeg, and orange peel, cream. Add flour, baking powder, salt mix with beater or hands, adding milk a little at a time. I prefer my hands because I can tell the consistency easier.
3
Chill for 30 minutes. You may roll and cut or roll into balls and place on cookie sheet press down with sugar and nutmeg mixture.
Bake 12 minutes...............till golden brown depends on altitude.....Follow #1 I use Royal icing to ice the with...I have a royal icing recipe on the site...
