My grandmother made these cookies once a year when I was little. I remember not being able to stop myself from eating one after the other they were so good. They are a cherished memory I have of my grandmother. I finally got my hands on her recipe and I am so happy to share these cookies with my children...and you. Enjoy!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl cream together butter and sugar. Add 2 eggs and beat well. Next, add the vanilla and mix. Sir in sifted dry ingredients until completely blended.
Wisk the remaining two eggs in a small bowl. Roll dough into small balls. Place on cookie sheet and press with fork. Brush tops of cookies with egg wash. Place halved cherries on top of the cookies, press and place in the oven. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
