Italian Butter Cookies

My daughter loves to make different shapes with these and sprinkle with powdered sugar! They have a great butter flavor and you can mix and match what you would like to top them with!

Ingredients

1/2 c
crisco shortening
1/2 c
butter (1 stick), softened
2 c
sugar
4
eggs, beaten
3 tsp
pure vanilla extract
3 c
flour
2 tsp
baking powder
1 tsp
salt

Directions Step-By-Step

Preheat oven to 350*.
In a large mixing bowl, cream the shortening, butter & and sugar. Add the eggs & vanilla then blend in the flour, baking powder & salt. Chill dough 2 hours.

Roll dough out on a floured surface, cut out shapes using cookie cutters and place onto lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until they are a light golden brown. Transfer to cooling racks.

Optional Decorating:
Before baking sprinkle with colored sugar or sprinkles. Garnish centers with maraschino cherry halves or plain M & M's, pipe icing designs or sprinkle with powdered sugar after cooled.
