HELLO DOLLY!! "Seven Layer Magic Hello Dolly Bars"
Nancy J. Patrykus
"7 Layer Bars" if you actually use all seven layers. Which includes butter, graham crackers crumbs, condenced milk, chocolate & butterscotch chips, coconut & nuts, which you layer directly into the pan.
If you leave off 1 chip, and/or the coconut, you have "Magic Cookie Bars".
If you like singing old Broadway Tunes, you can make either recipe and call them "HELLO DOLLIES". Which I read was the original name. Does it matter?
They are very, decadent & oh, so delicious!
- 1 stick
- 1-1/2 c
- graham cracker crumbs
- 14 oz
- can of sweetened condenced milk
- 1 c
- chocolate chips
- 1 c
- peanut butter chips
- 1 c
- chopped, & toasted walnuts or pecans
- 1/2 c
- coconut, sweetened flakes
Mix together the butter and graham cracker crumbs and press into bottom of a 13x9 inch baking pan...that you have lined with parchment paper.
Pour condensed milk over the pressed in graham cracker base.
Sprinkle evenly with chocolate chips,
butterscotch chips, nuts and coconut.
Take out of oven, and cool in the pan on a wire rack..10-15 minutes.
Then lift parchment up from the pan
and cut cookies into bars.
Put on a sparkly dress, a feather in your hair...
then playing the part...and singing,
"HELLO DOLLY,..WELL HELLO DOLLY"!
as you dance over to your neighbors home,
with a lovely plate of DOLLIES!
Fracturing the left 5th meta-carpal bone in my left hand, while trying to stop my fall.
I ended up at Urgent Care, with a black and blue face, a blackand bruised eye, and a wrist& hand brace for 3-4 weeks.
This morning I am swollen and can't use my left hand. Fingers are sore and stiff. Typing with only my right hand goes very slow. Bottom line is...I could not bake the coookie bars as planned. So the cooked cookie bar foto is from Hotti Biscotti. I am blessed..it could have been ..very tragic.
Thank you GOD! For all blessings. Even for my friend Ellie being here,(to give me a perm). She helped me up then drove me for treatment and x-rays.
