As a child, receiving these cookies from my Grammy Peg was a huge part of our Christmas tradition. Now, my Mom, sisters,sister-in-law, nieces and daughter-in-law all get together and makes these delicious cookies every year on the Friday after Thanksgiving. This recipe makes a lot of cookies, approximately 400 2" cookies. Stored in an air tight container they will last for months and months. I hope you enjoy them too!!
Cream butter and sugar together until well blended. Add eggs,1 at a time. Add rose water,vanilla and Baker's Ammonia. Mix well.
Slowly add flour. Add enough flour so that dough feels smooth and not sticky.
Roll out dough on a floured board to 1/8" thickness. Cut with your favorite shaped cookie cutters and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Decorate with colored sugars,jimmies,confetti, etc.. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned.
