How To Make gingerbread boys

  • 1
Cream butter and sugar together. Add egg, and mix well. Mix in orange zest (if using), and corn syrup or molasses. Add, remaining ingredients, mixing, until well combined.
  • 2
Chill dough, several hours to overnight.
  • 3
When ready to bake, preheat oven, to 375°F. Grease cookie sheets. Let refrigerated dough, sit on counter for a few minutes; then, on a lightly floured surface, roll out 1/4 or 1/3 size clumps, after kneading it slightly. Keep the dough that isn't being used yet, in the refrigerator.
  • 4
Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes, using cookie cutters. Place cookies 1 inch apart, on prepared cookie sheets.
  • 5
Bake cookie dough 10-12 minutes, until cookies are firm and lightly toasted on edges. Makes 5 dozen or 60 cookies.
