Janet's Notes:

I like knowing what's inside my dog cookies before giving it to them.

I can't tell you these are good, never tried it! LOL
But, the dogs LOVE them...

It cost much less and they actually look good!

Directions

1
Mix all ingredients except your oatmeal.

When everything is well blended start adding your oatmeal a little at a time. Use a little less oatmeal if making the drop cookies
2
roll out your dough using your christmas cookie cutters to cut...or if you have a dog bone cutter.

You can also be less fancy and roll them in balls like you would chocolate chip cookies, just make sure to press them down a bit.
3
bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 mins.
4
Make your frosting and "LIGHTLY" decorate.

Actually they are not like that at all...kinda like a thin oatmeal cookie. My little poodle is very old and has a hard time eating those hard things so I make her these. She loves them!

Ok, thanks. I have a poodle too, he is 3, but our last one was 12 and his teeth were really soft, so I know where you're coming from. Will give these a try.

Janet what a neat idea. How did you shape your bones.Do you have a cutter. I have a recipe posted also, but not with a frosting. So I will need to try this one too. I usually roll mine by hand. Looks like you rolled yours out?

I rolled mine out and used a dog bone and dog shape cookie cutter.
You can form them anyway you want, make logs and cut those. I really don't think the dog cares just as long as they get one! LOL!

I agree with you Janet. I don't think the dog cares as long as they taste good. I have a dog bone cookie cutter, but always just roll them out by hand. My recipe has some of the same ingredients as yours.

Hi Janet,
These are so cute. But my MinPin has no teeth so I don't think she could eat them. Please be sure you do not use chocolate sprinkles like in the picture.Chocolate is poison to dogs.
Thank you for posting it.

Do you know that rats won't eat margarine? Use butter or bacon fat or vegetable oil but not margarine, please! Loved this otherwise!

Okay, I didn't know that. I was thinking that margarine was better because it's made with oils and oils are good for the skin and hair. I have corrected my recipe, thank you for letting me know. :)
