A version of this recipe has been used in our family for @ least 40 years perhaps longer. I shared this recipe with my brother during his bachelor days, & although he didn't cook, I showed him how to make this recipe, & it was the only thing he ever made & loved so much, that no matter who came to visit, he always had the ingredients to make this tasty dessert.
To this day it is his favorite dessert, & I recently made a party size version for our Arkansas Family Reunion. Of course he always insists on having the 2% milk to wash it all down. Each Family gathering usually has this dessert.
PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES F. Melt 2 sticks of butter in a 12X15 size jelly roll pan.
Sprinkle the measured graham cracker crumbs evenly over the melted butter.
Now add the shredded coconut evenly over the entire pan.
Sprinkle the Ghirardelli chocolate chips over the shredded coconut. You can mix the chocolate chips with other chips like BUTTERSCOTCH OR WHITE CHIPS OR SEMI SWEET CHIPS IF DESIRED, but Curtis prefers using only milk chocolate chips to semi sweet.
Now sprinkle the chopped pecans over the chocolate chips. DO NOT STIR ANY OF THE INGREDIENTS.
Finally pour the condensed milk evenly over the entire mixture. These Lil tasty cookies are also referred to as MAGIC COOKIE BARS, & there are many variations of this recipe. No matter the recipe or the version used they are away a hit at any social gathering.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares. Makes about 6 dozen pieces, depending on the cut portion sizes. SERVE AND ENJOY AND DON'T FORGET THE MILK. SMILE
