Ingredients For cream cheese sugar cookies

  • 4 c
    flour
  • 11 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    shortening
  • 1 pkg
    (8 ounce) cream cheese
  • 1 1/3 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • DECORATE:
  • 2
    containers (15.6 ounce) funfetti frosting, vanilla frosting or homemade frosting
  • colored sugar
  • colored sugar nonpareils

How To Make cream cheese sugar cookies

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees F Combine flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg; set aside. Cream together butter and shortening; add cream cheese and sugar beating until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Gradually beat in flour mixture.

    Divide dough in half. Cover and chill 1 to 2 hours. On lightly floured surface, roll dough 1/8- inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 7 to 9 minutes. Cool on wire rack. Frost as desired.

    Note: Cookies can be baked ahead and frozen, then frosted at a later date.
