Directions Step-By-Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large mixer bowl, beat peanut butter and butter until smooth.
Add sugar, eggs and vanilla. Beat until creamy.
Blend in flour and salt. Stir in 1 cup chocolate chips.
Spread into un-greased 9x13 baking pan. Bake 25-30 minutes or until edges begin to brown.
Immediately sprinkle with remaining chocolate chips. Let stand 5 minutes until morsels become soft and shiny. Spread morsels evenly over top.

Cool completely. Cut and enjoy!

Looks like they are layered by the picture. Did you leave a step out?

Nothing missing, my chips melted in the mix this time (1 cup) that you stir into the batter and the last cup goes on top of the bars and you spread after they melt.

It has been extremely hot and I believe that the high content of cocoa butter lowers the melting point, but otherwise you would have actual chips in the dough....so that explains the photo looking like it does..

    hope that helps

So glad to find this recipe! I made a batch every day for a month when my daughter was in high school, earning her enough money for her marketing trip to St. Louis. Went to make them today for a fundraiser and - couldn't find my copy! Just a Pinch to the rescue.
