Ingredients For chewy holiday macaroons

  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1/8 tsp
    salt
  • 3
    eggs
  • 1/2 tsp
    almond extract
  • 5 to 7
    drops red and/or green food coloring, if desired
  • 24 oz
    sweetened flaked coconut
  • 3 Tbsp
    powdered sugar

How To Make chewy holiday macaroons

    Heat oven to 325 degrees
  • 2
    Combine butter, sugar and salt in a large bowl; beat at medium speed until creamy. Add eggs, almond extract, and food coloring, if desired; continue beating until well mixed. Stir in coconut with a wooden spoon and mix well.

    Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls, onto parchment paper lined or greased cookie sheets. Bake 20 to 22 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned. Let stand 5 minutes on cookie sheets, then remove to cooling rack. Cool completely. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
