Ingredients For caramel nut squares

  • CRUST
  • 2 1/4 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 3/4 c
    butter, cold
  • CARAMEL LAYER
  • 3/4 c
    butter
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 3 Tbsp
    light corn syrup
  • 3/4 c
    sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 c
    walnut pieces
  • TOPPING
  • 1 c
    semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter, cold

How To Make caramel nut squares

  • Flour, sugar, and butter mixed until crumbly.

    Mix flour, sugar, and 3/4 cup butter until crumbly like cornmeal.
  • Mixture pressed into a baking dish.

    Pat into an ungreased 13" x 9" pan.
  • Baked crust cooling.

    Bake at 350 F for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool.
  • Butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, and condensed milk in a saucepan.

    Bring 3/4 cup butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, and sweetened condensed milk to a boil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  • Mixture brought to a boil and thickened.

    Boil for 5 minutes, stirring until thickened slightly.
  • Stirring in nuts.

    Stir nuts into caramel.
  • Pouring caramel over the crust.

    Pour over baked crust.
  • Caramel cooling.

    Cool.
  • Melting chocolate chips and butter.

    Melt chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons butter in a double boiler over hot water until smooth.
  • Chocolate spread over cooled caramel.
