Tammy's Story

First had these at a local bakery. Two great treats in one!

1 box
family size brownie mix plus ingedients to make brownies
1 c
butter softened
3/4 c
brown sugar packed
1/2 c
granulated sugar
2 tsp
vanilla
1
egg
2 1/4 c
unbleached all -purpose flour
1/2 tsp
salt
1 tsp
baking soda
2 c
semi-sweet chocolate chips
waxed paper

Directions Step-By-Step

1
Preheat oven to 350. Spray bottom of large bar pan (15 1/2 x 10) with cooking spray.
2
Prepare brownie mix according to directions on box. Pour prepared mix into bar pan and bake for 15 minutes.
3
Meanwhile prepare the chocolate chip cookie dough. In a small bowl stir together flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside. Cream butter and sugars til light and fluffy. Add vanilla and egg. Beat well. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Mix well. Add semi-sweet chocolate chips. Mix well.
4
Using waxed paper roll cookie dough out into a 15 1/2 x 10 rectangle. Remove brownie from oven and invert cookie dough onto brownie (remove waxed paper). Increase oven temp to 375 and return bar pan to oven. Cook for an additional 15 minutes or until cookie on top is golden brown. Cool completely. Cut into squares and serve!

hi Tammy,I know what I did. I forgot to per bake the the brownies first. they looked gross and messy, but they were still VERY YUMMY. the brownie was kind of gooey, and the brownie raped all around the cookie. we can't stop eating them.

Sorry to hear you are having problems with this recipe. I make them all the time and NEVER have any of these issues. The pan I use is a Pampered Chef Large Bar pan with sides. Are you sure the pan was big enough? If you are using a 9x13 or anything smaller than indicated in the recipe the brownie will be under cooked.

Made these treats today, and the whole pan ended up in the trash. The cookie dough layer was ok, but the brownie layer was completely undercooked which ruined the entire recipe. I followed your directions to the letter. :(

I am sorry this didn't work out for you. I have never had that problem. Did you cook the brownie for 15 min before putting the cookie dough on top and returning it to the oven at 375?

I just made these brownie/chocolate bars. They didn't work out. the brownie batter ran all over the cookie dough and all over my oven. I did everything the recipe said.
