brown sugar, lightly packed

chopped nuts (optional)
1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets or use parchment paper.
Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
2In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar.
Beat in the banana and egg, then stir in the vanilla.
3Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until well blended.
Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (optional). Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheet.
4Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, depending on your oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minuntes before removing to wire rack. Let them cool completely.
