1/2 cbutter, softened

1/2 canshortening

1/2 csugar

1 cpacked brown sugar

1 tspvanilla

2eggs
-
2 1/2 call-purpose flour

1 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspsalt

12 ozsemisweet chocolate chips

1 cchopped walnuts

5 slicepatrick cudahy sweet apple-wood smoked bacon, cooked crisp, finely chopped, divided
How To Make bacon & walnut chocolate chip cookies

1Heat oven to 375°. In large bowl of electric mixer, beat together butter and shortening until well blended. Beat in granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla. Beat in eggs one at a time, scraping down sides of bowl once.

2Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into butter mixture until soft dough forms. Stir in chocolate chips, walnuts and 1/4 cup of bacon by hand. Drop dough by heaping tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets, 2 in. apart. Press a few remaining bacon pieces over each cookie.

3Bake 9-11 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer cookie sheets to wire racks; cool completely.
