Ingredients For bacon & walnut chocolate chip cookies

  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 1/2 can
    shortening
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 2
    eggs
  • 2 1/2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 12 oz
    semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 c
    chopped walnuts
  • 5 slice
    patrick cudahy sweet apple-wood smoked bacon, cooked crisp, finely chopped, divided

How To Make bacon & walnut chocolate chip cookies

    Heat oven to 375°. In large bowl of electric mixer, beat together butter and shortening until well blended. Beat in granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla. Beat in eggs one at a time, scraping down sides of bowl once.

    Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into butter mixture until soft dough forms. Stir in chocolate chips, walnuts and 1/4 cup of bacon by hand. Drop dough by heaping tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets, 2 in. apart. Press a few remaining bacon pieces over each cookie.

    Bake 9-11 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer cookie sheets to wire racks; cool completely.
