Love this recipe....so good....it's an old recipe that was handed down to me. I hope you enjoy them as much as my family. :)

Ingredients For elizabeth's 'southern' brownie waffles

  • 1 c
    shortening
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 2 lg
    eggs
  • 2 oz
    melted chocolate (or 3 tbs cocoa)
  • 1 1/2 c
    flour (sifted)
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1/2 c
    walnuts

How To Make elizabeth's 'southern' brownie waffles

  • 1
    Cream sugar and shortening together. Beat in egg until light. Add melted chocolate and milk. Add the sifted dry ingredients, nuts and vanilla.

    Put about 3 Tbs in a waffle iron and cook just as you would regular waffles.

    Top with a dollop of whipped cream and fruit (optional)and enjoy!
