Ingredients For dark chocolate mousse

  • 1/4 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    gelatin, unflavored
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1 c
    dark chocolate chips
  • 2 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    whipping cream, cold
  • sweetened whipped cream, if desired
  • chocolate shavings, if desired

How To Make dark chocolate mousse

    Stir together sugar & gelatin in small saucepan; stir in milk. Let stand 2 minutes to soften gelatin. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture just begins to boil.

    Remove from heat. Immediately add chocolate chips; stir until melted. Stir in vanilla; cool to room temperature.

    Beat whipping cream with electric mixer on high speed in large bowl until stiff peaks form.

    Add 1/2 of chocolate mixture & gently fold until nearly combined; add remaining chocolate mixture & fold just until blended. Spoon into serving dish or individual dishes. Refrigerate. Garnish with sweetened whipped cream & chocolate shavings, if desired, just before serving.
