How To Make chubby hubby bars
-
1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9" x 13" baking pan with nonstick cooking spray (I like bakers joy).
-
2Put your pretzels in a sealable bag & roughly chop them up. I just pound mine with a rolling pin. You don't want them to be pulverized because you want folks to really be able to see & taste the pretzels in the bars.
-
3In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda & salt; mix well.
-
4Using a stand mixer, beat together butter, brown sugar & sugar at medium speed. Mix until combined & fluffy.
-
5Now add in eggs, vanilla & peanut butter.
-
6On low speed, slowly add in your flour mixture just until it is incorporated into the batter. Overmixing your batter can result in a tougher bar.
-
7Now add in 1 C semi-sweet chocolate chips & 1 C chopped pretzels.
-
8Stir this mixture up with a spoon, batter will be very stiff. Or you can turn your mixer back on the lowest setting until it is combined, just don't overmix it.
-
9Spread batter into baking pan. This stuff is pretty thick so just do your best to spread it out evenly.
-
10In a small bowl, mix together your remaining toppings (1/2 cup chopped pretzels, 1/4 cup chocolate chips & 1/2 cup peanut butter chips).
-
11Sprinkle mixture over top of batter.
-
12Bake about 30 - 35 minutes until golden brown.
-
13Cool completely before cutting into squares.
