1 2/3 cups boiling water
1 3/4 cups old fashioned rolled oats
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 1/3 cups flour
1 t. unsweetened cocoa powder
1 t. baking soda
1/4 t. salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
4 t. powdered sugar, to dust

Directions Step-By-Step

Preheat oven to 350. Butter and four a 10 inch round cake pan. Stir together water and oats in large bowl. Let rest for 10 minutes. Stir in both types of sugar, the butter and eggs. Mix in flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Spoon batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle with the chocolate chips and walnuts. Bake until lightly browned, 15 to 20 minutes. Cool the cake in the pan for 15 minutes. Turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with the powdered sugar just before serving. Serves 8 to 10
