1**Have soda ready at the stove to add at once.
2Melt butters slowly; add sugar, water and salt.
3Cook at low heat, stirring constantly until it reaches 212 degrees.
4STOP STIRRING until candy reaches 236 degrees.
5Add the walnuts and stir constantly until candy reaches 290 degrees.
6Remove from heat and add soda, stirring well.
7Pour onto buttered cookie sheet.
8Immediately cut into squares.
9Will run back together, but can be cracked where cut.
10Add dipping chocolate (chips/squares) on top.
11They will melt and you can spread them out.
12Sprinkle nuts on top (optional).
