These sweet and tangy sugared cranberries make a surprising addition to candy bowl, your favorite apple pie, cheesecake or baked Brie- (see photos for other ideas)Make up packages for gift giving or just for snacking.
1Mix together the first four (4) ingredients. Bring to a boil, over medium heat. Simmer for 1 minute, stirring until sugar dissolves.
2Remove from heat and pour into a bowl. Stir in cranberries, cover and refrigerate for 8 hours. Drain cranberries, reserving liquid.Strain liquid into bowl. See note.
3Place sugar in a bowl and gently toss cranberries , coating well and evenly. Place on a large tray or cookie sheet to dry; about 1 to 2 hour air dry. Store in an airtight container or package for gift giving. Use within 3 or 4 days.
Strain out cinnamon sticks and cloves and use liquid as a simple syrup in cocktails, cakes, breads, pies muffins,cupcake decoration or in dips.
