Another Louisiana Praline - Buttermilk!

This is an old family recipe....from my great grandmother Hunt.

Makes 20 - 24 pralines

Ingredients

2 c
sugar
1 tsp
baking soda
1 c
buttermilk
pinch
salt
2 Tbsp
butter
2 1/3 c
pecans

Step-By-Step

1In a large pan (mixture boils up very high) combine the sugar, baking soda, buttermilk and salt. Cook on high heat for 5 minutes.
2Lower heat and cook to soft ball stage. Remove from heat, add butter and pecans. Beat by hand until glossy.
3Drop onto wax paper to cool. Pralines can be dropped smaller for "sampler" size for parties.
