FREDA's Notes:

My Grandmother had some of the Best Cost Efficient Recipes, Sadly So Many were all in her Head, Not on paper.

This is a Vanilla Sauce that was Served Warm over Bread Pudding, Stale unfrosted Cake, Cinnamon rolls, Donuts, or any Homemade spice Cake back in her era & on the Farm.

This is the Closest I can come to hers.. . this is My "Original" Recipe.
I Hope you'll try it and enjoy.
Photo soon

Oh, My dear Freda...thank you soooo... much for posting this!!!! I've been half-______ making this since my mother passed!!! She made this all the time for bread puddings apple dumplings and such. I never made it the sameway twice and it never tasted the same as her's!!! I know she did add a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg at times and I just loved this sauce!!! I'm on bended knees thanking you for this!!! You never know where someone will find something so prescious(?sp.). Thank you, thank you and thank you some more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Freda-- This is a great tip and brings back a lot of memories of a very dear friend that taught me how to make it and put it on a lemon cake. Thanks for posting it.

Thanks Freda for the grandmother memories. Mine too used a throw together vanilla sauce for various dishes. I was one of those bowl lickin' kids and that really was the best part for me. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Freda, my grandma also made a vanilla "custard type" sauce for her bread pudding. My grandpa called it "doop or doup" don't know how it was spelled even if it's a real word. lol It was awesome and I failed to get the directions. I will try yours and see if its what I remember. Thank you for sharing.
