Lori's Story

This is such an easy cake to make. Not the typical German Chocolate Cake that takes awhile to make. The cake is very moist and delicious.

1 box
german chocolate cake mix; mix according to directions
1 1/2 c
chopped pecans
1 1/2 c
1 stick
butter of margarine

1 box
powdered sugar (1 pound)
8 oz. cream cheese

Directions Step-By-Step

Grease 9x13 pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees (glass pan) or 325 degrees (dark pan or non stick pan).
Mix pecans and coconut and spread in bottom of pan. Pour cake batter over pecans and coconut. Put butter and cream cheese in a pan and heat until soft and starts to melt. Mix powdered sugar into cream cheese and butter. Spoon mixture on top of cake batter(this will cook into cake and make a filling) Bake for approximately 45-50 minutes.
The cake will not look like it is completely done in the center because of the filling. Check the edge of the cake to see if it is done and when it is, the cake is done. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
