This is my momma's recipe and it is so good. The apples do justice to make this a wonderful fall cake. With the fresh crop of apples coming soon, this will be a cake you will definitely want to make for a Sunday Dinner. A nice big dollop of cool whip makes it even that much better.
Preheat oven to 350F. Spray a 9x9 inch square baking pan.
Arrange sliced apples over melted butter; sprinkle with brown sugar and set aside.
For gingerbread: combine butter, molasses, sugar & eggs in mixing bowl; mix well. Combine dry ingredients to wet ingredients alternately with hot tea. Mix well, pour over apples. Bake for 45-50 minutes. Cool 3-5 minutes. Invert onto a plate. Serve warm with cool whip.
