Cathy's Notes:

This recipe was past down to my Mom from my Aunt Kathleen (My Dad's Sister). The reason my Mom asked her for the recipe was the first time my Dad took a bite of my Aunt Kathleen's strawberry cake, He made the following statement: "I believe that's the best tasting cake I've ever put in my mouth". Well you can imagine how that went over. I believe it is a FAVORITE of all of My family.

Directions

1
Preheat oven at 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 13 x 9 inch pan or 3 8-inch pans. Mix all of the above ingredients with a hand mixer for about 2 minutes. Pour batter into prepared pan(s). Bake for about 35 minutes in the 13x9 pan and about 20 minutes in the 3 small pans. While waiting on the cake(s) to cool, drizzle the liquid from the drained strawberries on the each cake layer before frosting the cake. Cool completely before frosting cake.
2
Frosting: Mix powdered sugar and butter together and add strawberries. Mix thoroughly. Frosting may be thicker than you like to spread. If so, add scants of the cream to spreading consistency.
