Sorghum Cake in Whiskey Sauce

I remember my grandmother making this when I was little...I love this...It has a flavor all it's own...and with the sauce it makes it decadent...I hope you enjoy this recipe...I didn't have my grandmothers recipe but I found the original recipe on line...the picture is a free stock picture since I don't have mine yet..

Ingredients

SORGHUM CAKE INGREDIENTS

2 Tbsp
butter
1/2 c
sugar
2 large
eggs
1 c
sorghum molasses
1/2 c
water
1/2 tsp
baking soda
2 c
flour

WHISKEY SAUCE INGREDIENTS

4 Tbsp
butter, softened
1/2 c
sugar
1 large
egg, beaten
2 Tbsp
whiskey, bourbon, or brandy

Directions Step-By-Step

Sorghum Cake...Butter square baking pan
Start by mixing the butter and sugar. Then add the eggs.
In a separate bowl mix the molasses, water and baking soda. Mix all the ingredients together.
Bake about 45 minutes at a 350-degree temperature.

Whiskey Sauce
Cream butter and sugar together; blend in the beaten egg. Put mixture in top of a double boiler over gently boiling water and stir until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in whiskey, Bourbon, or brandy. Spoon warm sauce over pudding and serve.
