Ingredients

2 c brown sugar, packed
2 1/2 c flour
1/2 c butter, softened
1 egg, beaten
1 c buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 c raisins
1/2 c walnuts, chopped
1 tsp vanilla

Stephanie's Notes:

Love the combination of walnuts and raisins; very easy dessert to make.

 

Directions

Combine brown sugar, flour and butter in mixing bowl; mix by hand. Remove and reserve one cup brown sugar mixture for frosting. Cream remaining mixture in bowl until light and fluffy. Add egg, buttermilk, and baking soda; beat well. Stir in raisins and walnuts. Beat in vanilla. Pour into butter 9 x 9" pan. Spread with reserved mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until cake tests done.

This sounds absolutely amazing!! Will be making this soon since this is one of our favorite flavors.

I have a question though love, you say to reserve 1 cup of the brown sugar topping, but you don't say what to do with it. I'm going to assume it's add it on top prior to baking?? Let me know when you get a chance...

OMG, Stephanie I just re-read the instructions. I apologize profusely... you specifically state to add reserved mixture prior to baking. I'm so very, very sorry sweetheart and SAVED!!!
